The Personal Biography Project

Technology has changed our world in some profound and exciting ways. The rise of the Internet has been called a "great democratization" because it has given powers to many that were once dominated by a few.

Nowhere is this more visible than in the media. Tradiationally, a small group of people decided what books were printed and which TV programs were produced. We read and watched what they decided to produce.

Today, readily available tools to create high quality print and video material have helped to eliminate the small groups of media gatekeepers. The means of creating books and video have been placed in the hands of the people. More importantly, the Internet allows archiving and distribution opportunities that weren't even imaginable 2 decaded ago.

The Library

The My Story My Gift Project will archive as many remarkable lives as possible during the next 10 to 20 years. Each life story will be professionally written using material provided during interviews. Participants can choose from a variety of finished book types, anything from leather-bound, hard cover books to paperbacks in quantities from 1 to 100,000. Each story will be registered with the Library of Congress.

The TV Channel

Participants who choose a video biograpyy will determine the manner in which their program reaches viewers. Some participants may choose to retain their program within their group of family and friends. MSMG will deliver the finished video biography in the format of choice only to the designated recipients and restrict any further distribuation according to the participant's wishes.

Participants also have the choice of placing their video biography on the My Story My Gift Internet channel where it can be found and viewed by anyone interested in biography.
